Vancouver Performing Stars ("VPS", "we", "us") is a dance, music, and theatre school located in Vancouver, British Columbia. This policy explains how we collect and use personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) of British Columbia.

Information we collect and why

Registration and student records

When you register for classes, camps, or programs, you provide personal information directly to our registration platform, Dance Studio Pro (GoStudioPro). This includes student name, date of birth, parent or guardian contact details, emergency contacts, medical or allergy notes, and payment information.

VPS accesses this information to manage class enrollment, communicate about schedules, process tuition, and ensure student safety. Dance Studio Pro's own privacy policy governs how they store and process this data.

Email communications

If you subscribe to our newsletter or updates, your email address is stored by our email platform (Squarespace, transitioning to Resend). You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.

When you contact us directly by email or phone, we retain that correspondence to follow up on your enquiry.

Website analytics

This website uses the following analytics tools to understand how visitors interact with our content:

• Google Analytics (GA4) — collects anonymised usage data including pages visited, referral source, and approximate location. Google Analytics uses cookies. You can opt out using Google's opt-out browser add-on .
• Simple Analytics — a privacy-first analytics tool that collects no personally identifiable information and sets no cookies. It counts page views and referrers only.
• Google Tag Manager — a tag management system that may load additional measurement scripts in the future. Any new script added via GTM will be listed here.

We do not sell analytics data or use it for advertising targeting.

Children's information

Our programs serve students from age 1.5 through 18. A parent or legal guardian must register on behalf of any student under 19. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through this website.

Student information collected at registration is used solely for class administration and safety purposes.

How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share it only as needed to deliver our services:

• Dance Studio Pro — registration, scheduling, and payment processing
• Email platform — delivering newsletters you have subscribed to
• Analytics providers — as described above, in anonymised or aggregated form
• Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect the safety of our students

Your rights under BC PIPA

You have the right to:

• Request access to the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Withdraw consent for non-essential uses (e.g. marketing emails)
• Ask us to delete information where we no longer have a legitimate reason to retain it

To exercise any of these rights, email info@performingstars.ca with your name and request. We will respond within 30 days.

Data retention

We retain student and family records for as long as a student is enrolled and for a reasonable period after enrollment ends, or as required by applicable law. Email marketing lists are retained until you unsubscribe.

Security

This website is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It does not store user data. Registration and payment data is protected by Dance Studio Pro's security infrastructure.

We may update this policy as our practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of our website or services after changes constitutes acceptance.
